How to Play
Whether you grew up playing Tongits at family gatherings or you're picking it up for the first time at phl163, here's a quick rundown of how the game works.
Tongits is played with three players and a standard 52-card deck. The dealer gets 13 cards; the other two players each get 12. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the center of the table.
On your turn, draw from the pile or pick up the last discarded card. Then meld (lay down) sets or runs of cards if you can, and discard one card to end your turn. Your goal is to get rid of all your cards or have the lowest total points when the game ends.
A valid meld is either a set (three or more cards of the same rank, e.g., three Kings) or a sequence (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, e.g., 7-8-9 of Hearts). Once melded, cards are laid face-up on the table and cannot be taken back.
If you get rid of all your cards by drawing and melding, you call "Tongits!" and win the round outright. This is the highest-value win in the game.
Any player can "call draw" after the first three rounds of play. All remaining hand cards are counted, and the player with the lowest total point value wins. Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points; Aces are worth 1 point.
When a player calls draw, the other two players can challenge it. If either challenger has fewer total points than the caller, the caller loses and pays a higher penalty. This makes the draw call a high-stakes strategic decision.
| Card | Point Value |
|---|---|
| Ace (A) | 1 pt |
| 2 – 9 | Face value |
| 10, J, Q, K | 10 pts each |

If you're Filipino, there's a good chance Tongits has been part of your life since childhood. It's the game you played during long jeepney rides, at family reunions during fiestas, and on lazy afternoons with your barkada in the neighborhood. The game is deeply embedded in Filipino culture, and for good reason — it's fast, social, requires real skill and strategy, and is genuinely exciting to play.
At phl163, we've brought Tongits online in a way that preserves everything that makes the physical game great. Our Tongits tables match you against real Filipino players from all across the country — Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Baguio, wherever. The game moves at a natural pace, the table chat is active and friendly, and every round feels like a genuine match rather than playing against bots. That authenticity is something phl163 has put a lot of work into, and it's reflected in the feedback from our community of players who consistently rate the Tongits experience as one of the best online card game platforms in the country.
There are plenty of casual mobile apps that let you play Tongits with fake coins, but phl163 is the real deal — real money, real opponents, real payouts. When you win a round at phl163, the PHP lands directly in your account wallet, and you can withdraw it to GCash or Maya in minutes. No coins to convert, no complicated withdrawal process. This is one of the main reasons Filipino players trust phl163 over other options: we treat you like an adult who came to play a real game for real stakes.
phl163 also operates under a valid PAGCOR gaming license, which means our Tongits platform has been reviewed and approved by the Philippine government's gaming regulator. The shuffling and card dealing systems are certified fair — no bias, no manipulation, no edge for the house beyond the standard rake. Every card you draw at phl163 is as random as drawing from a freshly shuffled physical deck at your family's dining table.
One of the things regular players at phl163 appreciate most is the range of table options. Whether you're a first-time real-money player who wants to start small with a ₱50 buy-in, or a veteran grinder who plays ₱5,000 VIP tables, there's a seat for you. Our table categories include:
When you win a Tongits round at phl163, your winnings are calculated and credited to your wallet immediately after the round ends. The phl163 platform collects a standard rake from winning pots — this is clearly displayed before you join each table, so there are no hidden deductions or surprises. Once your winnings are in your wallet, you can use them to enter other games, join a new Tongits table, or withdraw to your GCash or Maya account at any time. Withdrawals are processed within 5 to 30 minutes for e-wallets.
phl163 takes the privacy of every Tongits player seriously. Your personal details, game history, and transaction records are encrypted and stored securely. We do not share your data with third parties. You can request access to or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting our support team via Live Chat or email.

The game interface is clean and easy to read even on small screens — your hand, the meld area, the discard pile, and the timer are all clearly visible. Card interactions are intuitive touch gestures, and the round timer is prominent so you never accidentally time out on an important turn.
No app download is needed. Just open your mobile browser, go to phl163, log into your account, and navigate to the Tongits section. The page loads quickly even on mobile data connections, and the game remains stable throughout long sessions. If you're on a weak connection, the platform degrades gracefully — you won't lose your position mid-round due to a brief signal drop.
Beyond regular cash tables, phl163 runs regular Tongits tournaments where players compete for significant prize pools. Weekend tournaments are a staple of the phl163 calendar, with entry fees starting from ₱200 and prize pools that regularly exceed ₱15,000. Special event tournaments during Filipino public holidays — Pasko, Holy Week, Independence Day — often feature enhanced prize pools sponsored by phl163.
Tournament formats vary: some are straight elimination brackets, others use a points-based system where your cumulative round scores determine your final ranking. All tournament rules are clearly posted in the lobby before you register. phl163 announces upcoming tournaments via the promotions page and through the in-app notification system, so make sure you check in regularly so you don't miss a big event.
